With the extremely early Easter Sunday this year, Jenkinson's opened their complete operation early as well. That meant that we were not allowed in the main parking lot as we were last year. Most Polar Bears received an email (and this Web site was updated) informing them that they should park in the parking lot at the corner of Ocean Ave and Broadway. Unfortunately, that was about a half mile from Jenkinson's. I arrived at 11:30 a.m. and found Bob helping riders park on the street in front of Jenkinson's. I could see groups of riders parked on both sides of Ocean Avenue, some south and some north of the place. I found out later that the police had told us that no tickets would be written until May 1st so bikes shunned the parking lot in favor of nearby street parking. I figured I would continue on to the designated lot to see who was there and start my picture taking there while I walked back. The result was a cold and windy trek for me down to the place along Ocean Avenue and back via the boardwalk. I took both videos and pictures to document my brisk walk.

Temperatures were in the high 30s and wind was quite noticeable. You'll hear the wind in my videos. The slight rain I encountered in going from Freehold to Point Pleasant Beach stopped at the place but picked up again when I was heading home. There seemed to be a bubble of no-rain over the place while I was there. Nine short narrated videos are included. I don't normally do narrations and it shows. If any video is choppy, just let it complete and then replay it.

The designated parking lot at Ocean and Broadway. See video.

Video: The wind was really whipping around in the parking lot and spinning the propellers on this bike even though my video is too slow to catch the real-time action. However, listen for the sound of the propellers.

Video: I'm walking down Ocean Avenue commenting as I go in this video.

Video: I'm still walking south as bikes pass me in this video.

These riders were getting ready to leave and I caught them turning around in this video.

More bikes lined up as I get closer to Jenkinson's.

Video: I arrive at Jenkinson's parking lot and speak with a few riders in this video.

Braving the wind, these riders cross Ocean Avenue in front of Jenkinson's.
I meet Bill and Kate Dudley representing the southern contingent
of the Spokes-Women Motorcycle Club.
Trying to find a place to stow everything to keep it from blowing away.
Riders approaching the entrance where sign-in is located.
This is the ocean view next to Jenkinson's. Surf was up and the wind was howling.
Checkout this video which may be a bit hard to hear. At the end is heard, "Man it's cold!"
In the back left corner of Jenkinson's sit our fearless flight leaders manning the sign-in books.
Some come to eat while others just enjoy a cup of coffee.
Two more arrivals as seen through the exit door plate glass.
It's time to get back in that wind again.

Video: I decided to walk back to the parking lot via the boardwalk. Here's a video I took as I got to a point where the beach was totally visible.

Video: As I reached Broadway, I shot this last video looking down the street to the parking lot and panning out to the ocean and then back down the boardwalk toward Jenkinson's a little less than a half mile away.

This bike was the closest to the ocean.
Most of the bikes are gone now and I'm ready to put the camera away and head home.
